Association of Women Lawyers Honors Phyllis Norman with President’s Award - 2011-12-15

Phyllis Norman

Langdon & Emison attorney Phyllis Norman received the AWL President's Award on December 13 at the annual year-end meeting of the Greater Kansas City chapter of the Association of Women Lawyers. She received the association's highest honor due to her leadership of several AWL initiatives, including those that help provide pro bono legal services to women who would not otherwise be able to afford them.

During her busy year of service to the organization, Phyllis volunteered for AWL programs like the Volunteer Attorneys Project, Step-Up, Read Across America, AWL Golf Tournament, We the People competition, and Habitat for Humanity. She was the sole recipient of the President's Award, six months after being named "Young Lawyer of the Year" by the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.  Phyllis helps lead the mass torts team at Langdon & Emison, with experience in representing plaintiffs in pharmaceutical and medical device litigation.

Additionally, Phyllis' scheduled term of president of the AWL chapter will start January 1. Phyllis is currently serving a 2-year term as the District 4 representative of the Missouri Bar Young Lawyers Section.

Earlier this year Missouri Lawyers Weekly selected Phyllis as one of the most accomplished women attorneys in the state of Missouri under the age of 40, while the 2010 edition of Super Lawyers named Phyllis a "Rising Star" for product liability litigation in the state of Missouri. She received a degree in environmental science from Oklahoma State University, and her J.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
