Langdon & Emison is co-sponsoring the upcoming Association for Women Lawyers golf tournament fundraiser for the Greater Kansas City chapter. Attorney Phyllis Norman and colleagues on the AWL board are leading the charge, as Phyllis is currently president-elect of the chapter.
The Association for Women Lawyers will host the event at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo., on Friday, Sept. 30. In recognition of the organization's leadership to women in the profession and its strong pro bono program, the Missouri bar Young Lawyers Section honored the AWL chapter with its 2011 Pro Bono Publico Award. This award was in honor of a group that provides legal services from its body of volunteer members, to clients who otherwise could not afford them.
An active leader in the local bar, Phyllis is also currently serving a 2-year term as the District 4 representative of the Missouri Bar Young Lawyers Section. She's also a volunteer for the Volunteer Attorneys Project, Step-Up, Read Across America, AWL Golf Tournament, We the People competition, and Habitat for Humanity.
At the beginning of 2011, Missouri Lawyers Weekly selected Phyllis as one of the most accomplished women attorneys in the state of Missouri under the age of 40, while the 2010 edition of Super Lawyers named Phyllis a "Rising Star" for product liability litigation. At Langdon & Emison, Phyllis helps lead a large body of pharmaceutical and medical device litigation.
