Langdon & Emison Opens New Office in Kansas City Metro Area - 2011-01-01

Marking the latest step in its strategic expansion into key legal markets for this 21-year old firm, Langdon & Emison has announced the opening of a new office that will open in North Kansas City, Mo., this month. The office will be located where Armour Road and Swift Avenue intersect in the heart of a historic downtown district. North Kansas City has been a regional hub for the rail and agriculture industries since it was incorporated in 1912 - the firm will continue to be headquartered in Lexington, Mo, where it has been based for the past two decades.

"Were of course excited for what this means for the Kansas City legal community and for our clients," said Higginsville resident Kent Emison, who recently was inducted into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. "Though well continue to be dedicated to staying based here in Lafayette County, we are excited to expand into this additional location in this part of Missouri as well."

The office will possess innovative conferencing and technology solutions for trial attorneys, as the space that has been renovated to befit the firms specialties. And since the city is located on the bluff on the northern side of the Missouri River, the new location offers excellent views of the Kansas City skyline.

For more than 20 years, attorneys at Langdon & Emison have served clients across the nation who have been injured or lost a loved one in an automobile accident that occurred due to a defective product or the negligence of another party. The firms seven attorneys have represented plaintiffs in a wide range of personal injury cases arising out of motor vehicle accidents, including product liability lawsuits against nearly every major automaker. This includes the landmark decision in Baker v. General Motors decision, a defective products case in which the firm battled General Motors in the United States Supreme Court and won.

The firm received two significant jury verdicts in 2010, with victories in cases against Ford Motor Company and against Johnson Controls Incorporated. The former was a $23.4 million award in California, while the second verdict was the largest verdict ever awarded in Platte County, Mo.
