MATA Organizes Attorney Volunteer Day in Joplin - 2011-10-05

The Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys has organized another attorney volunteer day for the tornado-damaged area of Joplin, Mo. This next work day will take place next week on October 11, and extend into October 12.

MATA allied with the American Red Cross to assist at disaster sites with volunteer legal services and offers specific training for those attorneys who want to help out. MATA hosts a CLE that includes a panel of volunteers who have assisted disaster victims both on site and via telephone.

The training course focuses specifically on legal issues confronting disaster victims. The volunteer panel features the Disaster Officer for the American Red Cross in Missouri, Bob Devaney, MATA’s Emergency Response Team Co-chairs Brianne Niemann and Mike Sudekum and MATA Volunteer Service honoree Mike Schlueter.

Langdon & Emison remains a proud supporter of MATA, and most of the firm's attorneys have taken an active role in many community relations efforts under the MATA aegis. Additionally, attorney Brett A. Emison this year joined the organization's Executive Committee.
