The UMKC School of Law has announced that J. Kent Emison will receive its Lifetime Achievement Award for "outstanding professional success in the legal field." The award will be given to Kent at the Dean's Alumni Reception in Kansas City on Friday, November 11.

The University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law Foundation presents alumni awards each year recognizing service to the profession, philanthropy, and success in the courtroom. The Law Foundation distributes over $200,000 each year in scholarship funds to students at the School of Law, along with funds to bridge the gap between state support and what the school needs to provide outstanding legal education.

Gifts to the Law Foundation help the law school be more competitive and helps support clinics that provide students with direct legal experience while reaching out to the underserved in our local community. Partnering clinics include the Entrepreneurial Legal Services Clinic, the Kansas City Tax Clinic, the Child and Family Services Clinic and the Midwest Innocence Project.
