Propane Explosions

Propane, large fire explosions and injuries

Propane, a hydrocarbon, is generally stored in a tank as a liquid and used as a gas. Because it is stored under pressure, there is a risk of explosion.

Propane is flammable when mixed with air (oxygen) and can be ignited by many sources, including open flames, smoking materials, electrical sparks, and static electricity. Propane vapors are heavier than air. This is why they may accumulate in low-lying areas such as basements, crawl spaces, ditches, or along floors. However, air currents can sometimes carry propane vapors elsewhere within a building.

Our attorneys have regularly worked cases that have led to large fires and explosions.  The science of fire is not always an easily managed aspect of a case, and it can benefit one to work with a law firm who is familiar with that science. If you have a potential lawsuit related to a propane explosion, call our office to receive a free consultation.
