Alyssa Dockins represents people across the country who have been hurt by dangerous drugs and defective medical devices. As an associate on Langdon & Emison’s mass torts team, she drafts complaints and discovery, handles responses to discovery, and researches the case law behind current and future claims against pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.

The National Trial Lawyers named Alyssa a 2025 40 Under 40 honoree for civil plaintiff litigation. She’s committed to clients who were harmed through no fault of their own and now face medical, financial and legal uncertainty.

Alyssa developed her trial skills at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law, she competed on the mock trial team at the national championship level. She was also first seed after the preliminary rounds of the Last 1L Standing Mock Trial Competition and received the Order of Barristers Award. After law school, she completed the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s nine-month Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy, where she tried a full mock trial in front of sitting judges and experienced trial lawyers. She also graduated from the KCMBA Bar Leadership Academy, where she created a proposal for a young lawyer mentorship program.

Alyssa is a leader in the Kansas City legal community. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City (AWL). Her board roles have included social media, student liaison, social event chair and golf tournament vice chair. She has served on AWL’s golf tournament committee since law school and will chair the event in 2027. She also chairs the AWL Foundation’s Women on the Move 5K for 2027. The 5K draws close to two dozen judges each year and raises about $75,000 for scholarships for women law students and lawyers. Alyssa also serves on the board of the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association. She is active in the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys‘ Young Lawyers Section, where she helped plan a 2025 Kansas City CLE and took part in the section’s lobby day.

Alyssa is committed to the next generation of lawyers. She has judged the Missouri State High School Mock Trial Competition since 2018 and UMKC Law’s mock trial competitions and practice rounds since 2021. She has spoken to UMKC Law’s AWL student chapter and serves as a volunteer interviewer for the National Plaintiffs’ Law Association’s virtual career fair. She has also judged local speech and debate tournaments since 2016.
